If you live in a small house and love to decorate then you’ll understand my dilemma.
What do you do when you run out of rooms to decorate? Re-decorate the same rooms over and over again? Ask friends and relatives to let you take over their homes? Or head to the attic or basement?
My idea is to create small cozy nooks, each themed in a different way to satisfy my hearts desire to decorate.
The nooks are not large, nor are they remodeled or renovated in the traditional sense (no electrical rewiring or plumbing involved). Instead these areas are designed and fabricated with materials that can be easily put up and taken down if I change my mind.
I’ve had a passion for creating and designing for as long as I can remember.
I received my first sewing machine when I was six years old. I started by making doll clothes, and soon after, I was creating my own outfits. Over the years, I’ve explored and enjoyed a wide range of creative and artistic pursuits. My first full-time job involved designing visual displays at a local department store. Each display told a story and set a mood for a specific product or concept. I believe my early career in visual merchandising inspired my passion for nook decorating, where each uniquely themed space sets a mood and tells a story.
You’ll see before, during and after photos of the cozy nooks, along with insights into my creative thought processes during the design. I’ll share descriptions of techniques, problems and solutions, as well as tips and tricks.
Read this blog for entertainment and perhaps find some inspiration to create your own cozy nooks. I hope you will enjoy following my creative journey as I share both the challenges and triumphs along the way.
